Miles away at a sylvan
place,
Dying sparks evoke the
fire of yore.
Left are smoldered
embers
With winces of
yesteryear galore.
Acquiescing to the
curse of fate,
The wood endures the autumn’s fury, so do I.
Unrestrained has always
been she in inflicting hurt
Like a blunt dagger inside
the belly.
